Ahmad Zahid Promotes TVET As Premier Option For Further Studies. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a premier pathway for higher education.

He expressed his hope that TVET will continue to be a preferred choice, especially for students who did not achieve satisfactory results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

TVET: A Global Perspective

Highlighting the global perspective, the Minister of Rural and Regional Development noted that countries like Japan and China view TVET as a primary education system. These nations recognize the extensive career opportunities TVET offers for the future, particularly for young people.

According to Ahmad Zahid, both local and foreign investors require a skilled workforce comprising engineers and technical professionals, which TVET institutions can provide.

Establishing TVET Institutions Nationwide

Ahmad Zahid pointed out that numerous TVET institutions have been established nationwide to cultivate a skilled workforce. “It also proves that through TVET, one can pursue education up to the doctoral level,” he said during the Kuala Pilah UMNO Division meeting, which saw the attendance of over 700 representatives from 126 branches.

Opportunities For Tahfiz Students

In an effort to broaden the scope of TVET, Ahmad Zahid mentioned that Tahfiz students are also being offered opportunities to continue their education in TVET. This initiative aims to enable them to secure jobs in technical or engineering fields while simultaneously strengthening their religious education.

Training Opportunities In China

Further expanding on the opportunities provided through TVET, Ahmad Zahid announced that 200 out of 5,125 quotas for short and medium-term TVET training courses in China were allocated to the youths of Negeri Sembilan. This initiative underscores the government commitment to enhancing the skills and employability of Malaysian youth through international training programs.

Conclusion

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s advocacy for TVET underscores its significance as a premier option for further studies. With the establishment of numerous TVET institutions nationwide and the provision of international training opportunities, TVET stands as a robust pathway for students to advance their education and secure promising career prospects.
