TVET Colleges Launch Forum With Groundbreaking Imbizo. A successful first-ever imbizo was held at Goldfields TVET College in Welkom, Free State, by the Gauteng Free State TVET Colleges Communication and Marketing Forum on February 26 and March 2. TVET colleges from Gauteng and Free State participated in this pioneering event that brought together educators, marketing professionals, and key stakeholders to develop a visionary roadmap.

Landmark Gathering for TVET Colleges

During the event, participants engaged, exchanged knowledge, and discussed strategic planning. As the colleges explored innovative marketing and communication strategies, officials from the Gauteng and Free State TVET/CET regional offices were present to offer their unwavering support.

Setting the Stage for Success

Zuko Mbolekwa, the forum chairperson, opened the imbizo with an inspiring address that set the tone for an energizing session. TVET institutions must collaborate to drive growth, innovation, and visibility.

Innovative Marketing Strategies Take Center Stage

TVET colleges will be propelled forward by fresh, dynamic marketing approaches ignited at imbizo. Drive By Campaign, which created waves in 2024 and is expected to create even greater impact in 2025 across Gauteng and Free State, was a highlight of the event. Through this initiative, the public will be made more aware of TVET institutions and engaged with them, ensuring TVET gains prominence in society.

Building Strategic Partnerships for Growth

Imbizo went beyond marketing strategies to foster meaningful partnerships that will drive sustainable development in education and training. A major highlight of the event was a presentation by officials from Inseta (Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority), who shed light on the critical role Skills Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) play in connecting TVET colleges with industry opportunities. Students’ insights highlighted the importance of collaboration in equipping them with industry-relevant skills and opening doors to employment.

Insights from Industry Leaders and Marketing Experts

A compelling session led by Mr. T Mokono, Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications Outreach at DHET (Department of Higher Education and Training), was another highlight of the imbizo. TVET colleges can use his presentation to increase outreach and communication activity by understanding emerging marketing trends.

In Mokono session, attendees were inspired by forward-thinking approaches to digital engagement, branding, and audience targeting. Student enrollment and institutional visibility can be driven by leveraging digital platforms, social media, and community engagement.

Future of Innovation and Collaboration

Gauteng Free State TVET Colleges Communications and Marketing Forum imbizo sets the stage for a year of transformation. In the TVET sector, strategic collaboration, innovation, and creative marketing are important. A year of remarkable advancements is expected in technical and vocational education in 2025 with initiatives like the Drive By Campaign and strengthened partnerships with SETAs and industry leaders.

Conclusion

As a result of this forum, TVET colleges will not only enhance their branding and outreach efforts, but they will also play a crucial role in shaping the future of skilled professionals in South Africa. By implementing the strategies discussed at the imbizo, institutions will empower students and educators to embrace new opportunities for growth and success.
