TVET Courses Funded By Government – Students Needed

TVET Courses Funded By Government. The Nkabune Technical Training Institute (TTI) has made a call to form four leavers from disadvantaged backgrounds to seize the opportunity presented by the government’s New Higher Education Funding (HEF) model. This initiative allows students to enroll in technical courses that will equip them with valuable skills, enhancing their prospects in the competitive job market. Under this program, students from needy families will receive full funding for the courses they choose, providing a pathway to a brighter future.

Welcome And Support For New Students

Ms. Peninah Ngina, the newly appointed Principal of Nkabune TTI, warmly welcomed the first batch of students under the new HEF model. She emphasized the institution’s commitment to supporting students from needy backgrounds by offering them comprehensive financial assistance. This includes not only covering tuition fees but also providing pocket money to meet their daily living expenses.

The principal highlighted that the institution is fully prepared to assist students in the HEF application process. “As an institution, we are ready to help the students in the HEF application process. They only need to have a result slip and IDs of both parents,” said Ms. Ngina. This support ensures that the application process is smooth and accessible to all eligible students.

Funding Based On Need

Ms. Ngina elaborated on the funding structure, explaining that students will be categorized based on their level of need and family background. The HEF model uses income bands to determine the amount of funding each student will receive, with those in the lowest income bracket, band one, receiving the most support. “The students will be funded based on their level of need and family background. The students will be placed in terms of income bands with those with little income at band one. We have five bands where band five indicates those with high income,” she added.

Students in band one, particularly those with single parents, are expected to receive not only loans and bursaries but also additional pocket money. This holistic approach ensures that financial barriers do not hinder students from pursuing their education and achieving their dreams.

Student Testimonials

The impact of the HEF model is already being felt by the students at Nkabune TTI. Mercy Kanini, a hospitality course student, expressed her gratitude to the institute for its outreach efforts. “I am grateful to Nkabune Institute for reaching out to us and providing this opportunity. It has made my dream of pursuing a career in hospitality possible,” she said.

Another student, Kimathi, also praised the initiative, stating that it has enabled him to pursue his dream course. The testimonials from students underscore the importance of such government-funded programs in transforming lives and opening doors to future opportunities.

Conclusion

The Nkabune Technical Training Institute, under the leadership of Principal Peninah Ngina, is playing a pivotal role in empowering students from needy backgrounds through the New Higher Education Funding model. By providing full financial support, including tuition fees and living expenses, the institute is ensuring that students can focus on their studies and develop the technical skills necessary for success in the job market. This initiative not only benefits individual students but also contributes to the overall growth and development of the community.
