Call For TVET Champions In Africa

Call For TVET Champions In Africa. The AUDA-NEPAD Competition is now open! This competition seeks to highlight and celebrate innovative approaches to implementing equitable and inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Africa. If your organization is dedicated to ensuring that all young people across Africa have equal access to TVET opportunities, particularly those programs targeting women and girls, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, persons with disabilities, or migrants, this is your chance to shine.

Competition Details

The African Union Commission and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) are calling for submissions that showcase good practices in advancing equity and inclusion in TVET. This initiative aims to amplify the voices and experiences of TVET practitioners and stakeholders across Africa who are committed to promoting equitable and inclusive education.

The ultimate goal is to create a comprehensive Toolbox featuring a rich collection of equitable and inclusive TVET resources. This Toolbox will gather diverse, innovative, and effective methods from various AU Member States, supporting their efforts to implement inclusive policies and strategies. By doing so, it will offer opportunities to socially discriminated groups and contribute to the ongoing review of the Continental TVET Strategy, highlighting emerging trends.

The Collection will be a digital resource hosted on the continental knowledge platform ASPYEE (African Skill Portal for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship). This aligns with the African Union’s theme for 2024: “Educate an African fit for the 21st century – Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”

To participate in this competition, organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • Geographical Scope: Submissions are only accepted from organizations operating within Africa.
  • Focus Area: The good practice should come from organizations involved in youth skills development and employment, including public and private colleges, non-profit organizations, training providers, private sector organizations, government departments, and multi-stakeholder projects.

  • Application Process: All applicants must submit their entries using the provided good practice template.

Benefits

Participants in the competition stand to gain significant recognition and rewards:

  1. Toolbox Feature: All submissions will be evaluated for inclusion in the Toolbox, which will feature a rich collection of equitable and inclusive TVET resources.
  2. All-Expenses-Paid Trip: The three organizations with the highest scores will each receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two people to attend Africa Skills Week 2024 in Accra, Ghana, from October 14 to 18. Additionally, if needed, the trip costs for personal assistants of persons with disabilities will be covered, in addition to the costs for the two appointed representatives from each of the top-scoring organizations.
