KEDA Initiative To Support Non-Academic Students In Pursuing TVET

KEDA Initiative To Support Non-Academic Students In Pursuing TVET. The Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) has launched an innovative initiative aimed at supporting Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 holders who did not perform well academically. This initiative encourages these students to pursue studies in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), emphasizing the opportunities available in vocational skills and career pathways.
Opening Doors To TVET Opportunities
KEDA’s General Manager, Ismasuhaimi Shariff, expressed pride in recognizing outstanding achievements among students and stressed the importance of providing alternative pathways for those with less encouraging academic results.
“We are opening doors for students who may not excel academically to explore TVET and skills training opportunities,” said Ismasuhaimi Shariff during the SPM 2023 Academic Excellence Appreciation event for KEDA rural students in Sungai Pasir.
Pathways To Employment And Better Salaries
Highlighting the benefits of TVET, Ismasuhaimi noted that vocational education provides pathways to secure employment with better salaries as students enter the workforce.
“TVET offers pathways to secure employment with better salaries, as they enter the workforce,” he emphasized, underlining the demand for skilled labor in various sectors.
Comprehensive Support For Educational And Career Pathways
KEDA’s approach aims to cater to both academically strong students and those with an interest in vocational skills, ensuring a comprehensive strategy to support educational and career pathways.
“We will guide them to make the right choices… SPM marks the beginning of their life journey, and the demand for skilled labor is high,” Ismasuhaimi stated.
Collaborative Efforts And Program Initiatives
In collaboration with the state education department (JPNK), KEDA will implement the ‘Tuisyen Pintar@KEDA’ and ‘100 Permata Negeri Kedah’ programs, with a total allocation of RM450,000.
- Tuisyen Pintar@KEDA: This program will cover 113 schools statewide, focusing on empowering students to excel academically.
- 100 Permata Negeri Kedah: This initiative identifies promising Form 3 students in 2024, providing them with guidance, monitoring, and specialized training to excel in SPM in 2026.
Conclusion
KEDA’s initiative underscores its commitment to providing holistic support for students, ensuring that all learners, regardless of academic background, have opportunities to succeed in their educational and career pursuits. By promoting TVET and investing in educational programs, KEDA aims to foster a skilled workforce that contributes to the socioeconomic development of Kedah.
